What is Ursolic Acid Powder?
Ursolic acid powder is a natural pentacyclic terpenoid compound extracted from rosemary leaves. Ursolic acid exhibits numerous physiological properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, promoting collagen formation, and inhibiting melanin production. It is widely used in pharmaceuticals, functional foods, and skin and hair care products.

Currently, over 90% of production capacity is concentrated in China, with Shandong, Hunan, and Sichuan forming a dedicated "rosemary-ursolic acid powder" industry chain. The main process: dried rosemary leaves → supercritical CO₂ extraction of essential oils → 75% ethanol reflux → activated carbon decolorization → alkaline complexation → acetone recrystallization → HPLC, resulting in a 98% finished product. The entire process is chlorine-free and phthalate-free, meeting USDA Organic and ECOCERT standards.
Cosmetic-grade requirements include residual solvents <10 ppm, heavy metals <10 ppm, and bacteria <100 CFU/g, with a particle size that passes an 80-mesh sieve. The factory then air-grinds the remaining 98% of crystals to 1-3 μm for liposome encapsulation or cyclodextrin inclusion, resulting in a "cosmetic ursolic acid powder" active ingredient that is easily dispersed, discolors, and does not crystallize, ideal for formulators.
