what is phenylethyl resorcinol?
Phenethyl resorcinol, also known as 4-(1-phenylethyl)-1,3-benzene, is a resorcinol derivative. It is commonly known as SymWhite377. Phenethyl resorcinol has a strong antioxidant effect and strongly inhibits the activity of tyrosinase.
The research and application of resorcinol derivatives have attracted much attention in recent years. After the introduction of phenylethyl at the 4 position of the benzene ring of resorcinol, the free phenolic hydroxyl group is easy to combine with the active center region of tyrosinase, a key enzyme in melanin synthesis. Compounds with bisphenol hydroxyl structure usually have strong antioxidant properties and have a good inhibitory effect on the oxidation reaction in the melanin synthesis process, becoming a widely used skin whitening agent. Phenethyl resorcinol is slightly soluble in water and easily soluble in propylene glycol and butylene glycol.
The molecular structure of phenylethyl resorcinol is highly similar to tyrosine. Its purpose is to confuse tyrosinase and block the starting point of melanin synthesis by competitively inhibiting tyrosinase activity.
