The two forms of glutathione
The two forms of glutathione - reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG) - have different focuses in physiological functions and application scenarios.
Reduced glutathione (GSH) can be used directly by the human body to inhibit tyrosinase activity, reduce melanin production, neutralize ultraviolet-induced ROS, and protect collagen.
Oxidized glutathione (GSSG) plays a more important role in the human body. Compared with GSH, its advantages are more evident in:
1. Maintaining redox balance GSSG is the oxidized form of GSH, and the two regulate the redox state in cells through dynamic balance.
